glass / glazing

All units will comply with Document L as a minimum although much of the range we supply greatly exceed these requirements with the combination of Soft and Hard coated Low E Glass, Aluminium spacer or Super Spacer & Argon gas filling. If not specified we will supply Hard coated Low E Glass with Aluminium Spacer without gas.

Energy rated windows typically consist of Planitherm soft coated Low E glass, Super spacer & Argon Gas.

What is Super Spacer?

Standard windows use a highly conductive metal spacer bar to hold the two panes of glass apart, which sucks heat from inside to the outside. Super Spacer introduces no-metal warm edge technology to windows, helping to deliver windows of the highest standards. Super Spacer® is a no-metal, pre-desiccated, structural foam spacer system. Its award winning, patented Thermal Set Spacer (TSS) technology gives the ultimate in high performance spacer systems. Since it was first introduced in 1989, Super Spacer has become the dominant force in thermally efficient spacer systems.

Super Spacer has 100% memory and allows for expansion and contraction, a major cause of fractures in conventional sealed units. In accelerated testing Super Spacer has been shown to last over twice as long as other dual seal systems and five times longer than single seal systems.

Astrical Georgian Vertical Slider

We also supply Astrical Georgian which is achieved by multiple grids being created in the unit by duplex spacer (double faced spacer) and finished with another profile being applied to the exterior of the glass. This gives the effect of small panes of glass to match planning or aesthetic requirements with the benefit of a larger window.

Planitherm 4 Seasons Glass

Planitherm 4 Seasons is the new concept glazing for year round comfort, keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer.

Advantages

* Thermal insulation: reduces heat loss more effectively than traditional low-E products Solar protection: reflects up to 57% of solar heat gain through conservatory sidewalls and as much as 71% when used in conjunction with SGG BIOCLEAN COOL-LITE ST in the roof

* Energy efficient: reduced need for heating and cooling protects the environment and saves you money

* Visual comfort: maximising natural light and reducing glare provides an enhanced level of visual comfort.

* Neutral appearance: beautiful neutral appearance matched the rest of your glazing

SGG Planitherm Total 1.3

Planitherm 1.3 is a revolutionary, high performance, soft coat low-emissivity (low-E) glass. Double glazed units incorporating Total 1.3 offer significantly better thermal insulation performance compared to traditional hard coated Low-E products, the benefits include:

* Considerable reductions in heating bills.

* Reduced condensation on the inner pane.

* Environmentally friendly given the lower CO2 emissions associated with reduced energy consumption.

Pilkington Activ™ Range

Self-cleaning glass has been described as an impossible dream. Yet, following an intensive research and development programme by Pilkington – inventors of the universally used float glass process, and the world’s leading glass manufacturer – Pilkington Activ™ does just that.

Its unique dual-action uses the forces of nature to help keep the glass clear of organic dirt, giving you not only the practical benefit of less cleaning, but also clearer, better-looking windows.

The benefits of Pilkington Activ™

• The world’s first self-cleaning glass.

• Saves you time and money, and is safer than cleaning your own windows.

• Unique coating breaks down and loosens organic soiling.

• Even works on cloudy days and during the night.

• Can be used in almost any external domestic application – ideal for conservatories and windows.

• Will not be worn away or rubbed off under normal conditions – lasts the lifetime of the glazing itself.

• Easily cleaned during dry spells by hosing down or wiping with a soft cloth and warm soapy water.

Pilkington K Glass™

replacement windows, low emissivity glass, such as Pilkington K Glass™, is recognised by the Energy Saving Trust as significantly reducing heat loss.

Basically, by using less heat to keep your home warm, less energy needs to be produced – thus lowering the overall levels of greenhouse gases.

Pilkington KGlass™ usually forms the inner pane of a double glazing unit, and has a special ‘low emissivity’ (low E) coating which is a good reflector of long wave radiation (heat). This allows less heat to escape through your windows, because it reflects heat from fires and radiators back into your home. At the same time Pilkington KGlass™ lets the sun’s heat through your window contributing to its energy efficiency. This free heat from the sun is known as passive solar gain and Pilkington KGlass™ offers the UK’s leading performance in this aspect. So whilst offering positive benefits for the environment, this also has great benefits for you.

Synergy SG Ltd Windows have been improved even more! Our new window has been upgraded even further to improve energy efficiency By making it our standard, Synergy have now set the benchmark for high quality, energy efficient double glazing. Our mission is to lead the way with energy efficient products - helping you save energy, save money and help the environment too! And high quality, energy efficient double glazing has never been more affordable.

Doesn’t all double glazing save energy?

Of course all double glazing offers a degree of energy-efficiency, however Synergy Windows new Low-E Super Superior soft coat Low-E unit system is twice as efficient as standard modern double glazing.

How will Synergy Windows new Super Superior soft coat Low-E unit system make my home more energy efficient?

It will reduce the amount of energy net lost through windows by up to 90%. That’s enough energy to:

  • Run 9 TVs for a year
  • Drive over 1000km in an average car
  • Make 34,000 cups of tea and coffee

So how does Argon gas-filled Superior soft coat Low-E work?

Argon gas-filled units are the ultimate in sealed units. Replacing the air between the glass panes with clear Argon gas is far better at preventing movement of heat or cold through the glass. Argon is naturally present in the air we breathe (0.9%), and is a safe, odourless, inert and non-toxic gas.it reduces the amount of heat lost through your windows and it also allows more heat (energy) from the sun in through the window.

This effect is known as “solar gain” and because it comes from the sun it’s free and you’ll feel its effects all year round.

The unit is made up of two special types of glass which stops heat escaping, and which is a special ‘extra clear’ glass that allows more solar heat in through the windows, so your home benefits by feeling warmer without the need to turn up the heating.

Synergy Windows double glazed sealed units themselves are 24mm overall in thickness, comprising two panes of glass (each 4mm thick) and an air gap of 16mm between. Our research and testing has proven that a 16mm air gap is the best option, with the most energy efficient insulating properties and a better lifespan, while units with larger air gaps can have the problem of increased air circulation and leakage over time.

What is “Energy Saving Recommended”?

Energy Saving Recommended is an initiative from the Energy Saving Trust backed by the Government. If you see the Energy Saving Recommended logo you can be sure that the window is particularly energy efficient.
